While taking the stage at the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre in New York on Friday, Shawn shared with his fans that the loss was “devastating”. Reflecting on his interactions with Liam, he said: “I got to meet Liam a couple of times and he was a beautiful soul and his eyes gleamed, it was beautiful.” He opened up further by saying, “It’s about grieving those we miss, the tears, and it’s also about celebrating them and who they were and what they left in this world and I just want to take a second to send so much love to him wherever he is up there.”

Pouring his heart out, Shawn declared, “Liam, we love you. The world is crying for you brother, and we’re all praying for your son and your family and I miss you man. So this one’s for you tonight, Liam, from all of us.” In a poignant gesture, he performed his heartfelt ballad ‘Heart Of Gold’, seemingly dedicating it to the late singer, leaving fans deeply moved. An audience member expressed, “I can honestly say that there wasn’t a dry eye around me.”, reports Wales Online. This sentiment was echoed by a New Orleans-based producer, who told PA news agency: “The loss of Liam Payne, someone so many of us grew up listening to, is still hard to process and praised Shawn’s performance as “Shawn’s tribute performance to him was beautiful.”

“This moment at Shawn’s show was the first time I fully felt all of my emotions and I was crying alongside my sister and many other fans in the venue.” Reflecting on the event she added, “It was heartbreaking, but also so powerful to hear Shawn’s love and to be surrounded by so many others who have lived these experiences with me.” In an official statement given to The Associated Press, it was stated that Liam “jumped from the balcony of his room,” seemingly ruling out any theories of an accidental fall or foul play. The tragic incident occurred while he was on holiday in Buenos Aires, where he had gone to see his ex-bandmate Niall Horan perform. Forensic experts further added that Liam had no “defensive type” injuries and that the wounds on his body were “vital and produced at the same time as each other,” concluding that “the intervention of third parties would be ruled out,” according to Argentinian outlet La Nacion.
