Privacy Notice Wynne Evans appeared in high spirits on Saturday night as he headed back to his hotel hand-in-hand with his girlfriend Liz Brookes after performing on Strictly Come Dancing. The opera singer put on a loved up display with his events manager girlfriend a week after he hit headlines for an awkward moment with his dance partner Katya Jones. The moment saw Katya moving Wynne’s hand away from his waist as it appeared to move across her waist during the live show, after rejecting a high-five from him earlier in the show. It was, they have both insisted, a light-hearted moment that only they would understand, with the 52-year-old Go Compare star saying: “It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK? We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.”

It comes after Wynne hit headlines for a recent awkward moment with Katya
And seemingly putting the events behind him, Wynne beamed from ear to ear while spending time with Liz after the show, during which he scored 33 out of a possible 40 points. Liz, who recently found love with Wynne, donned a pair of leather-look trousers with a leopard print blouse and cardigan. A number of the Strictly contestant’s families joined them following the show, with Tasha Ghouri’s dad and boyfriend Andrew Le Page following closely behind Wynne and Liz. Shayne Ward also left hand-in-hand with his fiancée Sophie Austin. Wynne split from his wife, Tanwen Evans, in 2016, and he has recently found happiness again with Liz. A source told The Sun: “Wynne and Liz met at an event and are taking things slow, but he’s excited about where the relationship might go. He is in a much better place now than when his marriage ended. It’s like night and day – and he is so happy.”

Despite impressing the judges on Strictly over recent weeks, Wynne has had a tough few weeks since the awkward moment between him and Katya last week. They both swiftly addressed fans’ concerns, with Katya defending Wynne, and saying she was worried he was being “portrayed as someone he is not.” On Strictly spin off series It Takes Two on Monday, she spoke more about the controversy with Wynne by her side. She said she wanted to “get something out of the way that I feel overshadowed our performance for absolutely no reason. Quite frankly, I can’t bear sitting here watching this man being portrayed as someone he is not.
