Privacy Notice Since arriving in the ED back in 2017, Rash Masum has become a firm favourite among Casualty fans. Played by actor Neet Mohan, the charming doctor has had an emotional journey on the BBC show and was recently seen struggling following the unexpected death of his dad Ashok. Elsewhere, Rash’s cousin Tariq has also been plunged into a nightmare of late and secrets from his past are set to emerge as people begin to question his character. In turn, even his relationship with Rash is strained as the latter confronts his cousin outside of ED. But as things get even more dramatic, while viewers may recognise actor Neet for starring on Casualty, that’s not the only BBC show that he has appeared in.

The 38 year old could be seen in series one of Line Of Duty where he played PC Simon Bannerjee alongside the likes of Vicky McClure and Martin Compston. In the show his character was also brought up in series five of the show when Ryan Pilkington claimed he’d been inspired to join the force by PC Bannerjee. “Where I grew up, it was easy to fall in with the wrong crowd. My mum, she was off her face on drink and drugs a lot of the time,” he said. “The person who made me see another way and to be a useful member of society is a police officer called PC Simon Bannerjee. He’s the reason why I wanted to become a police officer too. To help people.”

After being referred to in series five in 2019, fans took to social media to make the connection between Neet’s role on Casualty and Line Of Duty, with some even speculating that he could be the mysterious H. “The story isn’t over as series 6 was commissioned several months ago. I think that PC Simon Banerjee may be H or someone significant as the actor was Dr Rashid in Casualty and he left Casualty recently *hopefully* to come back to Line of Duty,” wrote one on X. Others mentioned how they didn’t remember Neet being in Line Of Duty. “Aw i’m so used to seeing neet as rash in casualty i forget he was in this #LineofDuty,” another commented.

In response, a third added: “Knew I saw that face before; but couldn’t place it”. Earlier this year, Neet’s role on Casualty saw him take on a poignant storyline relating to mental health and in an interview with express.co.uk, he opened up about how the topic was an important one for him. “It was particularly personal for Matt and we were talking about how, with both of our experiences, we were talking about male suicide,” he said. “We were talking about how, unfortunately, for both of us, we’ve been in situations where we’ve had friends who have done that and it feels like it comes out of nowhere. “And it obviously didn’t. These friends of ours were obviously suffering for quite a while. But it didn’t seem like that.” If you’ve been affected by any of the issues in this story you can contact Samaritans in the UK and Ireland on freephone 116 123, or email jo@samaritans.org or jo@samaritans.ieStory SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
