Privacy NoticeThe One Show host Alex Jones failed to mention the recent departure of co-star Jermaine Jenas during Thursday’s show, amidst reports he’d been dropped by the BBC over “inappropriate behaviour” claims. During the programme, presenters Clara Amfo and Alex chose to avoid discussing their former presenting partner’s sudden exit, prompting waves of speculation on Twitter among fans. Kicking off proceedings, Alex began with: “Hello, and welcome to Thursday’s The One Show on BBC One and iPlayer with Clara Amfo.” They moved on swiftly, opting instead to honour those who received their GCSE results that day, leaving Jermaine’s absence unexplained. Curious fans took to social media to express their confusion, with one stating: “I wonder if their now infamous former colleague will be commented on?”, while another chimed in with: “Where’s Jermaine?” Further stirring the chatter, someone added: “They should at least mention there’s someone missing and won’t be seen again #TheOneShow,” as reported by the Mirror.

Jermaine Jenas breaks silence after shock axe from The One Show for ‘inappropriate behaviour’

Another viewer pointed out the lack of acknowledgement: “#TheOneShow so they never addressed anything.” With another adding frustration: “The elephant in the room won’t be addressed on cam. It’s like he never even presented on the show #theoneshow.” This buzz of viewers’ questions arose post-news that Jermaine was let go by the network after allegations of “improper behaviour”. Having served as a pundit since 2020, Jermaine presented shows such as Match of the Day and The One Show.

Jermaine, who previously hosted MOTDx, a spin-off programme for younger audiences, saw the show cancelled in October 2023 after a three-year run. Despite his dismissal, Jermaine bounced back quickly, securing a role with talkSPORT immediately following his departure. The radio station confirmed that the former England midfielder now features on their afternoon show Drive, alongside ex-Liverpool player Jermaine Pennant. A BBC spokesperson confirmed Jermaine’s exit from the BBC by stating: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting lineup.”

The Mirror has reported allegations that the former footballer was dismissed over accusations of unsolicited inappropriate texts involving a female employee at The One Show. It’s understood that the BBC received a complaint about text messages sent by the presenter last month and launched an investigation. This Thursday, Jermaine responded to the allegations, stating he “was not happy” and reminding everyone that there are “two sides to every story.” His spokesperson added: “Right now I can’t talk about it. I can tell you I’m not happy – there are two sides to every story – and I’m going to be speaking with my lawyers on the issue.” Jermaine also briefly spoke about the allegations on talkSPORT News, and when asked whether the “unsolicited texts” were true, the presenter simply stated: “Like I said, I’m not happy about this situation. You know, I’m going to be speaking to my lawyers about it is all I can say right now.” The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
