Privacy NoticeStrictly favourite Johannes Radebe made an emotional admission on this morning’s episode of Saturday Kitchen (August 24). The dancer appeared on the BBC show alongside Matt Tebbutt and a host of special guests, including culinary stars Hasan Semay and Georgina Hayden, plus wine expert Olly Smith, who couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for the dancer. “I think he might be the loveliest person we’ve ever had on the show,” Olly gushed over a glass of orange wine, before telling Johannes directly, “I just think you’re amazing.”

But it was when the topic switched to his fresh gig in the stage show Kinky Boots that Johannes made his personal confession. While whipping up a lamb dish, Matt quizzed, “While we get on this, let’s talk about Kinky Boots. Musical theatre debut, this is two years in the making, right?”. This prompted Johannes to recount how his solo tour producers bagged the rights to the musical before pitching it to him. He recounted earnestly: “They said ‘Was there a musical you would love to do? ‘ and I said Kinky Boots. You know there’s nothing else out there for a tall strapping lad like me that’s got a passion for heels and feathers.” Then, Johannes dropped a bombshell about his struggles beyond the dance floor, confessing he hadn’t felt free to go out in public in make-up and heels despite his confident stage presence, reports Wales Online.

“As you can imagine, my life, that’s what I normally do in my house when I’m by myself. I put on my heels, I put on my make-up, I’ve never, ever had the confidence to really step out of my home like that,” he confessed, his gaze lowered. The conversation then shifted to Johannes’ audition process for his role and the requirement to get approval from the iconic Cyndi Lauper, who penned the tunes for the stage show. However, it was his candid revelation that sent a ripple of encouragement from fans across social media. “Johannes being his beautiful self on Saturday Kitchen. Georgina Hayden is clearly captivated by him. He is just so divine,” one fan enthused. Another chimed in with: “The dearest, gentlest man, the best of them.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
