Privacy NoticeFans of ITV gameshow The 1% Club will know that the Lee Mack-hosted series often brings the drama – but not as much as its Australian counterpart it seems! Jim Jefferies, who presents the Australian version of the hit game show, has revealed that a heavily pregnant make-up artist on set went into labour as they were filming an episode. “She went into labour while doing my hair and make-up,” he told 7NEWS.com.au. “To begin with, she just thought she was having a bit of a tummy rumble or something, but she went into labour! To her credit, she finished my hair and make-up, and doing my hair is no easy job — it’s a real smoke-and-mirrors show to get that thing looking alright.”

While the make-up artist wasn’t sure whether she had gone into labour by the time filming began, the news was confirmed to Jim when he entered the first ad break. “But when we went to the ad break and I went to catch up with her, the producers said, ‘She’s gone to have the baby!’ By the time we got to the next ad break, she’d already had the baby!” The hair and make-up artist welcomed a little boy. “So turns out it takes so long to film an episode of 1% Club that you can go into labour, go to hospital, have a baby and call back,” Jim joked. The 1% Club sees 100 contestants face a series of questions, beginning with ones that 90 percent of the country can answer and ending with a quiz that just one percent of country managed. Comedian and actor Jim Jefferies, 47, hosts the Australian version of the game show, which originated in the UK with Lee Mack. Earlier this year, fans of the game show were surprised to learn that Lee Mack’s real name is in fact Lee McKillop. When a contestant said that their surname was McKillop, Lee revealed that he shared that last name.

Last year, Lee gobsmacked viewers when appearing in an episode of a new BBC Two gameshow in which a contestant ‘died’ – however, the dummy episode proved to be a part of darkly comic series Inside No. 9. Lee Mack played himself as he hosted a fictional game show called 3by3, which saw three duos – including a creepy-looking mother and daughter – compete for the chance to win £20,000. However, the episode ended with a horrifying twist, as the daughter using her telepathic powers to murder her mother. One fan wrote on social media: “Brilliant! We nearly turned it off thinking it was the wrong programme! #3×3 #Insidenumber9.” And another commented: “Love the idea that people might have watched #3×3 and didn’t twig till the end.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
