Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden has joyfully announced she’s been given the all-clear after her breast cancer diagnosis, but she’ll continue treatment for the next five years. Appearing on This Morning with hosts Craig Doyle and Sian Welby, Amy opened up about her journey while discussing her new book Dancing in the Rain and the BBC documentary Amy Dowden: Fight of My Life. Amy expressed her gratitude, saying: “Thank you for having me, it’s been quite a whirlwind of the last 18 months and actually yesterday my family came and watched me dance for the first time since and tonight the documentary coming out.” She admitted to feeling a whirlpool of emotions, especially with the documentary’s release, reports the Express.

Craig checked in on her well-being, to which Amy responded positively, “I’m doing really well thank you. I still have my monthly injection and will do for the next five years but at the moment my tests are good, everything is positive and I just feel like in this last week being back at Elstree at Strictly, I really feel like the old Amy is back.” Amy also hinted at an exciting aspect of her return to Strictly, which kicks off on September 14, mentioning there’s a special number involved.

Craig couldn’t hide his admiration, commenting: “When you describe this process and everything you’ve been through, it’s kind of amazing that we’re going to see you on the new series of Strictly. I mean, fair play to you, it’s inspiring. You must be so grateful and excited.” “Yeah and the Strictly family they were there for me every step of the way,” Amy gushed. “Yesterday, I can’t say too much but dancing again a very special number and the boys came and picked me up at the end and run me off the floor. It was so emotional and so lovely. It was so surreal and I just can’t stop smiling.” Amy stayed tight-lipped about her celebrity dance partners identity but urged her admirers to catch the upcoming season premiere: “14th of September, we’ve been working so hard on the 20th year.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
