Privacy NoticeA new celeb romance is always exciting, especially when it’s between two co-stars. So, when Top Boy star Jasmine Jobson revealed she was dating her co-star Kadeem Ramsay, fans of the hit series went wild. However, it wasn’t all positive. Jasmine, 29, who plays Jaq in Top Boy, was viciously trolled on social media because of her romance with Kadeem, 28, who played Kit in the show until 2022, in a shock turn of events. The influx of negativity occurred after Jasmine posted a photograph of her and Kadeem kissing during a romantic trip to Champillon, France. She later took to her Instagram Stories to issue a message to the trolls, urging them to “be kind”.

Jasmine’s Top Boy character Jaq is a lesbian, who is in a relationship with Becky, played by Adwoa Aboah. It appeared that some fans presumed she was also gay in real life. In her message to fans, she reminded them she is an actress who portrays a fictional character. “I’m an ACTRESS. My job is to play dress-up & pretend. I take a script and make it palatable for your eyes to watch,” she penned on Instagram at the time. “I am also a HUMAN BEING, LIKE ALL OF YOU, just living my life. Be kind.” After the drama, Jasmine addressed her romance with Kadeem in an interview with The Guardian. She admitted she didn’t understand what all the fuss was about. “I’m just surprised that it’s news to everybody. Because it’s definitely not news! We’re happy, and that’s it,” Jasmine defiantly told the publication.

Jasmine joined the cast of Top Boy in 2019, when the series was revived by Netflix. Kadeem starred in the series from 2013 – when it aired on Channel 4 – all the way until 2022, when he exited the show. Top Boy came to an end in September, leaving fans devastated. Speaking about leaving Jaq behind, Jasmine told The Guardian: “I absolutely adore Jaq, too. It was so bittersweet to let her go.” As well as Top Boy, Jasmine is also known for ITV thriller Platform 7, which landed on screens back in December. The four-part psychological thriller television series is based on the 2019 novel Platform Seven by Louise Doughty. Jasmine portrayed Lisa in the series, who is revealed to actually be a ghost. Elsewhere, Jasmine has starred in several short films as well as 2020’s Surge and 2024’s Bird. She’s also appeared in TV shows such as Noughts + Crosses, Dark Heart and Suspects.
