Privacy NoticeThis Morning has come under fire for setting off viewers’ phobias after even the hosts couldn’t hide their fright. In the episode on Thursday 29 August, presenters Craig Doyle and Sian Welby appeared uneasy as they were joined by an array of spiders and a lifelike spider toy. Spider aficionado Professor James Logan was there to give tips on keeping spiders out of the house and discussed various types. Both Sian and Craig seemed to struggle when James referred to the eight-legged guests as “beautiful.” Holding up a container with a spider inside, Craig nervously remarked: “Ok let’s look at it, and try to decide what we like about its face, and not see it as the enemy.” James was quick to reassure him, saying: “They are not going to harm us at all. They do bite, but they prefer not to.” Sian was visibly tense during the show, saying: “Oh it’s moving, it’s moving, that lid is on isn’t it?” reports the Mirror. The segment took another terrifying turn when a toy tarantula started crawling across the studio floor. Craig responded by throwing a conker at it while a startled Sian exclaimed: “I’ve got PTSD from this, can someone get rid of this spider toy please?”

Many expressed their unhappiness on social platforms, with one viewer commenting: “How to inject more fear into people who already have a phobia to spiders.” Another wrote: “I already have a spider phobia, didn’t need to tune in to see clips of spiders making my phobia even more worse.” A third playfully noted: “If a spider that big got in our house then I’d move out and it could pay the rent #ThisMorning,” and someone else pointed out the show having covered the story in the past with: “How many times have they done this segment on how to get rid of spiders etc over the years on #ThisMorning, more rinse and repeat yet again!” In less creepy crawly news, the latest teaser for This Morning has just dropped, giving fans a sneak peek of hosts Ben Shephard, Cat Deeley, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary taking on new heights. Set against the backdrop of Television Centre in West London, the promo confirmed the fab four’s return next month. They scaled the towering 45ft studios in a cherry picker, all culminating with them settling onto the traditional blue sofa set up roof-high. Ben and Cat will hit our screens on Monday 2 September, with Alison and Dermot joining the line up on Friday 6 September.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
