Privacy NoticeTammy Slaton, the star of ‘1000-lb Sisters’, has been applauded by fans for achieving a new milestone in her weight loss journey. The 38-year-old has fascinated viewers with her incredible body transformation since the TLC series first aired in 2020. Tammy Slaton, who was previously wheelchair-bound and weighed a hefty 725 pounds, underwent bariatric surgery in July 2022 to kickstart her weight loss journey. However, she had to slim down to 550 pounds before she could qualify for the procedure, which led her to check into a food addiction rehab centre. Despite initially leaving the centre heavier than when she entered, she returned and finally hit her target. In December 2023, she revealed that she had shed an impressive 440 pounds and can now stand and walk without assistance, although she still needs an oxygen tube to help her breathe.

Almost a year later, Slaton shared another significant accomplishment in her weight-loss journey. A clip from the October 15 episode of the TLC show, obtained by PEOPLE, reportedly shows Tammy at a doctor’s appointment with her sister and co-star Amy. “At my rock bottom, I was weighing about 725 pounds,” she confessed. “The last time I saw Dr. Smith was about nine months ago and I was around 420 pounds. He told me I had to lose 100 pounds before my next appointment. I’m extremely nervous.”, reports Surrey Live. The TV sensation jumped on the scales and was overjoyed to find out she weighs in at 303.8, surpassing not just Dr. Smith’s target but her own too. She couldn’t contain her excitement, proclaiming: “I surpassed Dr. Smith’s goal, my goal, all the goals! “. In an emotional video, Tammy opened up about her “unbelievable” weight loss journey, sharing candidly: “Now that I’ve lost so much weight, I’m able to do things that I never would have been able to do. I think people do take the small things for granted. Being able to cross your legs and put your shoes on… I’m able to sit comfortably on the toilet, I’ve never been able to do that.”

Tammy has been flooded with admiration and support online, with fans leaving heartwarming messages. One follower penned: “You are awesome! Such determination!” While another wrote: “I’m so proud of her. She has done a phenomenal job.” A third added: “So proud of you Tammy. Live your life to the fullest. Wishing you all the best.” Dr. Smith shared his thoughts on Tammy’s impressive progress, noting he’s not shocked by her success. He said: “Tammy has consistently demonstrated her dedication to making sustainable lifestyle changes to maximise the benefits of her surgery. “I’ve emphasised the importance of making small, daily adjustments to ensure not only her continued progress but also her long-term success. She’s truly committed to her health journey.”
Dr. Smith has disclosed that skin removal surgery is on the cards for Tammy, usually advised after a stable weight period of three to six months. Yet, he conceded that should Tammy have “a significant amount of loose skin that’s affecting her mobility and contributing to other health concerns,” an earlier operation could be warranted. After assessing the situation, the expert remarked: “Given this,” and suggested, “it makes sense to consider surgery sooner rather than later, even though she will continue to lose weight in the future.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
